Bunker Regeln
In Südafrika werden die Bunkerharken nicht wie bei uns längs der Bunkerkante in den Sand gelegt, sondern es gibt spezielle Bodenhülsen nahe des Bunkers, in die die Harke senkrecht gesteckt wird. So bietet die Harke weniger Angriffsfläche und man muß sich nicht zum Aufheben bücken.

1/2 Way House
Das 1/2-Way-House hat in Südafrika eine starke Bedeutung. Meist ist das Haus ein komplettes Restaurant in der Nähe des Clubhauses, in das die Spieler mit ihren Caddies einkehren. Diese Pause ist fest eingeplant und kann bis zu 30 Minuten dauern. Der Caddie bekommt vom Spieler etwa 10 Rand zusätzlich, um sich seine Mahlzeit kaufen zu können.

Divots
Ausgeschlagene Grasnaben werden nicht durch Wiedereinsetzen geschlossen, sondern durch eine Mischung aus Sand, Erde und Grassamen. Jeder Spieler hat ein kleines Täschchen an seinem Bag. Das Fairway erholt sich so besser.

Caddies
Die Caddies in Südafrika sind durch die nationale Telefongesellschaft Vodacom organisiert und in zwei Kategorien nach Können eingeteilt. In den Clubs stellt der Caddie-Manager sicher, dass immer genügend Caddies für die Spieler zur Verfügung stehen. Für eine Runde mit Caddie zahlen Sie zwischen R55 und R65. Im Halfway-House steht ihm ein kleiner Snack zu, außerdem ein Trinkgeld am Ende der Runde. Sie sollten deshalb etwa R100 für den Caddie einplanen. Denken Sie daran, dass ihr Geld das einzige ist, das der Caddie an diesem Tag verdient.

Zocken
Wenn die Clubmitglieder ihre Turniere ausspielen, sind Greenfee-Spieler eigentlich nicht zugelassen. Die Turniere finden meist mittwochs und samstags statt. Wer freundlich nachfragt, hat trotzdem gute Chancen, auf den Platz gelassen zu werden. In einigen Plätzen setzen die Spieler eines Flights auch gerne auf sich selbst, z.B. ein paar Rand auf ein Birdie an einem vorher festgelegten Loch.

  Arabella Country Estate in the Western Cape claimed the title for the best new course among those opened for play in 1999. It is built in a spectacular setting overlooking the Bot River Lagoon near Hermanus, and is a challenging layout, with exciting finishing holes on each nine running alongside the water.

  This course is considered one of the more forgiving in the Western Cape. There are a few testing holes but it is one place where the average golfer can expect to play two or three shots under his handicap. It is one of the few traditional country clubs still in existence with facilities for tennis, squash and bowls as well as golf.

  Steenberg has a reputation of having the most magnificent greens and lies nestled under the Constantiaberg Mountains. The golf estate lies amongst South Africa’s long established vineyards surrounded by the indigenous pines, Cape bush and mountain flora. The course has been designed by Peter Matkovich who has created a challenge by introducing large waste bunkers, running creeks and water hazards.

  Situated at the foot of the imposing Simonsberg mountain, close to the university and wine making town of Stellenbosch, this course is sheltered from the infamous southeasterly wind that can create havoc for the amateur golfer.   The course is separated from the sea by a narrow strip of land so it is exposed to fresh and strong breezes and even gales. It is also known for its water features.   Westlake golf course is situated on the shaded slopes of Silvermine Mountain, near the seaside town of Muizenberg. The towering flat pines create natural avenues for the fairways.
